چکیده

The purpose of this paper is to introduce a new family of zero-voltage switching (ZVS) pulse-width modulation (PWM) active-clamping dc-to-dc boost converters. This technique presents ZVS commutation without additional voltage stress and a significant increase in the circulating reactive energy throughout the converters. So, the efficiency and the power density become advantages when compared to the hard-switching boost converter. Thus, these converters may become very attractive in power factor correction applications. In this paper the complete family of boost converters is shown, and one particular circuit, taken as an example, is analyzed, simulated, and experimented. Experimental results are presented, taken from a laboratory prototype rated at 1600 W, input voltage of 300 V, output voltage of 400 V, and operating at 100 kHz. The measured efficiency at full load was 98%, and the converter kept an efficiency up to 95% from 17% to 100% of full load, without additional voltage and current stresses.

A New Family of Soft-Switching DC-DC PWM Converters Using a True ZCZVT Commutation Cell

In this paper is introduced a new family of DC-DC PWM converters using a true Zero Current and Zero Voltage Transition (ZCZVT) commutation cell. The soft-switching technique utilized provides Zero Current Switching (ZCS) and Zero Voltage Switching (ZVS) simultaneously, at both turn-on and turn-off of the main switch and ZVS for the main diode. The family of ZCZVT PWM converters is obtained from...

Analysis and Design of a Higher Current ZVS-PWM Converter for Industrial Applications

A new auxiliary circuit that can be implemented in DC-DC and AC-DC ZVS-PWM converters is proposed in the paper. The circuit is for ZVS-PWM converters used in applications where high-frequency operation is needed and the load current is higher than that of typical ZVS-PWM converters. In the paper, the operation of a new ZVS-PWM converter is described, its steady-state operation is analyzed, and ...

Three-level zero-voltage switching pulse-width modulation DC–DC boost converter with active clamping

DC–DC step-up converters for high-output voltage applications typically demand high voltage devices, leading to high conduction and switching losses. This identified demand has motivated research on active clamping and multi-level topologies. On this context, this study presents the study of a novel DC–DC boost converter with three-level boost-type active clamping, zero-voltage switching (ZVS) ...
